About

The advisory arm of the platform engineering community

PEC is the enterprise advisory service from the people who defined platform engineering as a discipline — organisers of PlatformCon, authors of the field's foundational books, and stewards of the 300,000-strong Platform Engineering community.

01 · Who we are

We came out of the community,
not a consultancy

PlatformEngineering.org started as a community of practitioners trying to name what was already happening — infrastructure becoming a product, ops becoming a platform team, developers becoming customers. The discipline didn't have a vocabulary, a benchmark, or a playbook.

Eight years later, the community runs PlatformCon, publishes the State of Platform Engineering report, has produced five books, and certifies practitioners through PE University. The discipline now has a vocabulary, a benchmark, and a playbook.

PEC is the advisory arm. The same practitioners who shaped the discipline now bring it directly into enterprise platform programmes — end to end, named, accountable.

02 · What we believe

Four principles. We hold these

01

Capability, not dependency

Every engagement leaves your team more capable, not more reliant on us. We advise, train, and diagnose. We don't build platforms or staff teams.

02

Vendor-agnostic, by design

We don't sell tools. We don't have referral fees. We work with the toolset you already have, and tell you when the answer isn't a new tool at all.

03

Named practitioners, not account managers

The person who scopes the work is the person who delivers it. No hand-off to juniors, no rotating bench. You meet them on the diagnostic call.

04

Diagnose before you prescribe

Most platform initiatives stall because the wrong problem got solved. Every engagement starts with an honest read of where you actually are, not where you assumed you were.

03 · How we're different

We sit somewhere new

The traditional options each have a structural problem. Here's where we fit.

vs. Traditional consultancies
The problem

Sell long engagements with junior delivery. Incentive is to stay, not to make you self-sufficient.

How we work

Senior practitioners only. Engagements are designed to end.

vs. Tool vendors
The problem

Every problem looks like a reason to buy their platform. Advice is a sales motion.

How we work

Vendor-agnostic. We tell you when the answer isn't a new tool.

vs. Hiring a platform leader
The problem

Months of recruitment. One person's experience. Hard to course-correct if the hire is wrong.

How we work

Six practitioners across the disciplines, available now, scoped to your timeline.
